When Monkeys Attack...

We met another tourist who had purchased “monkey food” at the bottom of the stairs, only to have it knocked out of his hands by a mob of hungry monkeys moments later. Fortunately, we had not purchased monkey food because we had a feeling that it would cause trouble. Plus I had no desire to get manhandled by little beasties.

But, in truth, the guides were much more annoying than the monkeys. “How will you find your way? You don’t know where you’re going…” the guides all said to us. “I’m going up. We’re walking.” And then ignoring them was the only way to finally be rid of them.
