Buddha Art

There are numerous ways that Buddha is represented. In this sculpture in Hue, Vietnam the Buddha is "ascending" or what Anne's dad, Joe Dietrich, would call: "Entering timeless life." This is my favorite representation so far that I've seen of these "ascending" or "transcending" poses. Here the Buddha is halfway to a nirvana wherein he (or she--the Buddha form is often female) is actively returning to the universe and releasing little silver shard-bubbles of life force.
